Characters: Colonies are massive and meandroid, with thick walls. Septa are uniformly exsert and are neat and rounded. Columellae may be well developed, but do not form distinct centres.

Colour: Usually brown or with brown walls and grey or green valleys.

Similar Species: Platygyra daedalea. See also P. crosslandi. Resembles Goniastrea australensis underwater.

Habitat: Most reef environments, especially back reef margins.

Abundance: Usually uncommon.

Taxonomic Note: A species complex.
