Characters: Colonies form irregular mounds or are openly branched. Branches are tall and upright, almost cylindrical in section, becoming flattened towards the tip. Verrucae are elongate but are of irregular size and are irregularly distributed on branches.

Colour: Brown.

Similar Species: Pocillopora zelli. See also P. ligulata.

Habitat: Shallow rocky foreshores.

Abundance: Uncommon except in the far eastern Pacific.
