Characters: Colonies may form stands several metres across. They are arborescent, composed of cylindrical branches which subdivide infrequently. Corallites are tubular; axial corallites are distinctive.
Colour: Pale brown or tan with white axial corallites.
Similar Species: Acropora muricata of the Indo-Pacific has the same growth-form but corallites have thicker walls and more rounded lips to radial corallites.
Habitat: Upper to mid reef slopes and lagoons with clear water.
Abundance: Sometimes common.
